Mountain View, CA – May 6, 2010 – Apprion, the leader in industrial wireless application networks, today announced that Huntsman Corporation is a winner of the sixth annual Progressive Manufacturing 100 Awards. Huntsman, a global manufacturer and marketer of differentiated chemicals was selected by Managing Automation Media as an award recipient for their industrial wireless application implementation at the Huntsman, Port Neches Facility. Huntsman partnered with Apprion to implement the largest and most ambitious industrial wireless application network to date.

The wireless application solution was the result of an aggressive and innovative safety program Huntsman undertook in 2008 to eliminate injuries, product defects, and environmental releases at their Port Neches facility. Termed "Project Zero", this program required a completely mobile solution to empower operations and maintenance personnel to capture defects, track work progress and make process and safety related decisions in real-time.

To address the safety and security goals of Project Zero, Apprion installed the Apprion ION System throughout the 4 square mile plant and provided the wireless application network and seamless wireless application integration (applications include video, voice communications, mobility and condition monitoring). The ION System includes IONosphere, a centralized dashboard that brings together application data, regional maps, equipment status, maintenance views and reports.

An independent judging panel chaired by David R. Brousell, Editor-in-Chief, Managing Automation Media, and Jeff Moad, Executive Editor, Managing Automation, reviewed project nominations.
