ISA100 Conducts Meetings in Mountain View, CA

Research Triangle Park, NC – January 8, 2009 – The International Society of Automation's (ISA's) Wireless Systems for Industrial Automation standards committee, ISA100, will conduct a series of meetings 13-16 January 2009 at the NASA Ames Conference Center in Mountain View, California. ISA100 is a committee that is responsible for the generation of standards, recommended practices, technical reports, and related information for users of wireless technology in industrial locations. ISA100 is composed of many working groups that are chartered with addressing the unique challenges of implementing wireless technology in difficult industrial environments.

Many of these working groups will be meeting in Mountain View, including groups focused on the development of industrial wireless communication standards, co-existence and interoperability of industrial wireless systems, wireless backhaul, industrial wireless security, wireless factory automation, and convergence methods with other wireless specifications. The committee's meetings will be open to the public and run from 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. daily. The meetings, hosted by Apprion Inc, provide an easy avenue for interested parties, including technologists, academicians, and investors to understand and influence the technical details and business opportunities that are available for wireless systems – from sensors to backhaul networks to asset tracking solutions – in the industrial world.

Of special note are the “Meet ISA100” presentations that are scheduled for Tuesday, 13 January 2009 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. This session will present the scope of industrial wireless activities – from an ISA100 perspective. An afternoon Special Interest session, from 1:00-2:30 p.m., will include presentations on Mesh networks for container security, Provisioning wireless field devices, Iconology for instrumentation diagrams, and an Overview of the U.S. Federal government secure wireless activities.

The multi-day ISA100 meeting is free, open to all and is being staged at the Building 943 Conference Center (outside of the security gates) at NASA-Ames Research Center.

The agenda for this meeting as well as more information about ISA100 is available at www.isa.org/isa100wireless.
