LaCorte Brings High-Tech Leadership Track Record to Board of Wireless Solution Provider for Manufacturers

Moffett Field, California - March 27, 2007 - Apprion, the pioneer of industrial-strength wireless solutions for manufacturers, today named Blair LaCorte as an independent member of its Board of Directors. LaCorte brings a wealth of distinguished leadership experience and expertise in growing businesses that bring new technologies to the manufacturing and industrial markets.
In addition to holding executive positions in successful investment firms, start-up and large public companies, LaCorte holds leadership positions with prestigious academic institutions, has been awarded several patents in wireless communications, and has been the recipient of numerous industry and educational honors. He is currently an operating partner with Texas Pacific Group, where he focuses on investments in Information Technology, Internet, On-Demand Software, Wireless, Security and Industrial markets.
LaCorte joins Lara Druyan, general partner at Allegis Capital; Wes Raffel, general partner at Advanced Technology Ventures; Doug Donzelli, Apprion's chief operating officer, and Stephen Lambright, Apprion's chief executive officer, on Apprion's Board of Directors. Apprion is the developer of ION - a unique platform that enables manufacturers and other industrial customers to integrate, secure, and manage numerous wireless networks and applications. Providing a unique alternative to the high total cost of vendor-dependent, proprietary solutions, Apprion's ION platform integrates vendor-independent wireless infrastructure and plug-and-play, and best-of-breed wireless applications that provide industrial wireless users with a safe, secure, cost-effective solution that is able to adapt and grow with their needs over time.
"Blair brings to Apprion extensive experience and insight into how to successfully deliver the right technology, channels, and marketing strategies to address the unique needs of the industrial customer," said Lambright, who co-founded Apprion. "We look forward to Blair's contributions in helping us to further define, develop and execute on bringing the first and only cost effective platform that delivers a secure wireless infrastructure that supports industrial-strength applications."
Prior to joining Texas Pacific Group, LaCorte was an Executive Fellow at the Center for Digital Strategies, Dartmouth College, where he also sits on the Board of the MBA program. He also sits on the board of the Graduate Business Foundation, which represents 50 of the leading business schools from around the world.
LaCorte was also the executive vice president of Business Development and Marketing at Savi Technology, a provider of wireless network supply chain solutions, which was acquired in June by Lockheed Martin Corporation [NYSE: LMT]. While there, LaCorte helped turn Savi Technology into a world leader in developing RFID-based solutions to track, manage and secure assets throughout the global supply chain. LaCorte founded Savi's Network Services Business and created the Smart and Secure Trade Lanes (SST) initiative, the largest industry-sponsored global container tracking and security network.
Prior to Savi, LaCorte was VerticalNet's senior vice president of Strategy and E-commerce focusing on the power and other industrial markets. He was part of the team that took the company public in what was the most successful IPO in 1999. Prior to that, he was president of CADIS, a private venture-backed software company focused on electronic publishing and procurement in the B2B markets. CADIS was acquired by Aspect Development; the combined company was then sold to i2 Technologies in the then-largest software company acquisition in history.
LaCorte also held various executive positions at Autodesk, the largest CAD and visualization software company and founded and became General Manager of both the GIS and Data Management & Publishing divisions. In addition, LaCorte was manager of Worldwide Strategy and Market Planning for Sun Microsystems (WWFO), a senior consultant at Gemini Consulting, specializing in process engineering in the Energy, Chemical and Transportation segments.
LaCorte received a BA with highest distinction from the University of Maine and an MBA from Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, where he received the Lebowitz Award. He has been honored with numerous industry awards, including being named "Top Ten Business Marketers" by Business Marketing and Advertising Age, Technology of the Year by NASA, and Product of the Year by Industry Week.
