| Bringing ISA100 And WirelessHART™ Together For The First Time!
Apprion's open, wireless application networks seamlessly integrate both standards. Now you don't have to choose.
Apprion, the leader in industrial wireless applications networks, recently announced a new version of their IONizer industrial wireless networking appliance that seamlessly integrates wireless sensor network gateways based on either ISA100.11a or WirelessHART™ standards with 802.11 (WiFi) radios to support other industrial wireless applications such as mobility, location, video, and communications and to enable efficient backhaul of sensor data wirelessly.
Harry Forbes, ARC Advisory Group, commented, "Many process manufacturers have expressed concerns to ARC about the emergence of two distinct wireless sensing standards. Apprion is wisely incorporating both into its IONizer offering…"
With the addition of these two emerging standards for wireless instrumentation and monitoring, Apprion enables industrial facilities with the easiest, most cost-effective way to gather accurate and timely information to improve safety, product quality and productivity plant-wide.

Reality Check – Wireless Lessons from the Real-World
By Larry Allhands, Apprion Wireless Advisor
Coexistence of 802.11 and 802.15.4 Networks in an Industrial Environment
Interest in the application of wireless technologies in industrial settings has exploded over the last decade. More specifically, technologies employing a wide host of wireless devices utilizing the Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) bands that are unlicensed and open to a heterogeneous range of network technologies are growing at an unprecedented rate.
Of these growing technologies, this discussion will focus on the coexistence between two platforms that operate in the 2.4GHz ISM band; IEEE 802.15.4 Low-Rate Wireless Personal Area Network (LR-WPAN) and IEEE 802.11b Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN).
